TO BETTER FEEL THE PRESENT.

Cucina Sonora began in 2014 with Pietro Spinelli’s idea to move from classic piano toward new horizons. It all began for fun, trying to understand the use of the various DAWS, then, by mistake, the first tracks came to life. Pietro decided to move to Berlin and develop his studies at dBs Music School, attending the Electronic Music Production & Performance degree course. The debut album "Evasione", written between Italy and Berlin, is a collection of stories and images of the several trips Pietro made, well detailed and chronological or sometimes ethereal sound landscapes; in 2017 he started a crowfunding campaign with the help of Musicraiser aimed to the album making; the campaign reached out the 147% of the target set, selling almost 300 albums in pre-order.

Following the album release, Cucina Sonora performed more than 60 gigs both in Italy and abroad, sharing the stage with electronic music celebrities such as Godblesscomputers, Fricat, Stev, Machweo, Aucan and Go Dugong, performing on some of the most important stages in Italy, like Collisioni Festival and A night like this Festival.

Through her soft, fragile vocals, and her heartfelt lyrics, Lucia conveys universal questions and experiences. Her latest single, "Who", announces the imminent release of her EP "Immersia", due this autumn.

"Who" is an uptempo number driven by catchy synths, warm Rhodes tones and of course Lucia's frail, delicate vocals. The video was shot by Bucharest fashion photographer Raluca Margescu, and it shows - "Who" is a minimalistic jewel in gray, white and dusty pink, punctuated of course by Lucia's trademark fiery hair and an assortment of extravagant flowers.

The lyrics, however, deal with darker themes. The song is about self-doubt and the anxiety of constantly second-guessing oneself; Lucia cleverly personifies these feelings into an imaginary creature she calls "the animal" - a creature that must be kept in check and, eventually, released back into the wild in a gesture of freedom and self-determination.

Baba Dochia is hailing from Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania/Romania. The band is playing electronic music mixed with rock music. Their style is full of synthetic and organic beats, heavy guitar riffs, flavored with the aggressiveness of live drums. The project started in 2006, in Sighișoara, Romania, inspired by the release of Team Sleep's first album.

If in the beginning their compositions were pure post-rock, the actual style has become a more organic mix of electronica and rock with glitch and psychedelic elements. The combination from synthesizers, distorted guitars, drum machines and live drums, have made them one of the most original bands in Romanian alternative music.

Their main influences are Death in Vegas, Trentemøller, Apparat, Archive, Amon Tobin, Glitch Mob, Boards of Canada and of course Team Sleep, the project's main catalyst.

Sara Renar is a recording and performing artist from Zagreb, Croatia and praised as one of the best and bravest Balkan new generation singers – songwriters. A former architect with a Master’s degree, she has left her office job to pursue a full time career in music. Performing in her mother Croatian tongue, she has won multiple regional awards for her music and live performances including the IMPALA European indie album of the year nomination.

Renar has played over 250 gigs in the last five years including major regional venues such as MENT festival, SuperUho festival, Exit festival, Špancirfest, Lake fest, Mixer festival and Pula film festival and has performed as the opening act for Manu Chao, Macy Gray and Rundek Cargo Trio. She has released five albums: “Djeca” (“Children”), “Jesen” (“Autumn”),“Tišina” (“Silence”) and the live album “Gdje povlačiš crtu?” (“Where do you draw the line?”). Her fifth album “Šuti i pjevaj” (“Shut up and sing”), symbolically released March 8th 2021 is critically acclaimed as her best and bravest album so far.

PINHOLES is an alternative rock band from Romania, considered a talented emerging group in the new wave of Romanian underground rock. The band’s name is inspired by the hedgehog’s dilemma, a metaphor about the challenges of human intimacy. Pinholes started in 2011 and the debut album Zmei (trans. Kites) appeared in 2013, with singles like Avem un Loc and Poza quickly catching up followers in the Romanian radio circuit. By the end of the year, the band's potential was fully recognized.

Although, often their music is considered melancholic and stubbornly sad, Pinholes have created a fan base attracted to this melodramatic genre of alternative rock, with strong post-rock and post-metal undertones.

Second Wave is a dark alternative rock duo, having post-rock, ambient and shoegaze influences. Originating from Bucharest, it consists of Daniel Antohi on vocals & guitar and Radu Dorobantu on the drums. They made their debut in late 2016, since then releasing multiple singles that were played on local alternative radio stations and „Every Quiet Ocean”, their debut 4 track EP.

With dreamy textures, straight-forward drumbeats and heavy use of sound altering effects, they manage to fill the stage with their sound, although being just a two-piece band.

WondRWomN is a 90s baby who grew up heavily influenced by the boom bap-battle rap era, inspired by the underground scene and mainstream, a dichotomy which personifies WondRWomN’s unique style, that she coins as ‘Grit Pop’, with reference to her love for the Cool Britannia movement.

Her first release ’The Girl Next Door, that raps’ featured her anthem ‘WondRWomN WHAT!’ and classic ‘Money’s Not Real’. Based in Tottenham, she built a strong following in the UK hip-hop scene and a burgeoning fanbase internationally, not least in Spain and Portugal, where in 2018 she supported Andalusian Hip-hop legends SFDK.

WondRWomN is a regular at Sofar Sounds and has been featured on BBC Introducing (2021).

Amadeus is one of the most appreciated all female electric quartets worldwide. Their constant and ingenious combining of classical and modern elements has certified this group as one of the most popular artists in the realm of classical crossover music. Back in 2000, they, along with the Bond Quartet, were the first in the world to use an all electric instrument array in order to achieve the perfect blend of classical and modern, thus actually creating a new musical style. They released five record albums with a major label in Romania.

All four artists – Andreea Runceanu (violin/vocal), Bianca Gavrilescu (violin/backing vocal), Patricia Cimpoiasu (cello/backing vocal) and Laura Lazarescu (piano/vocal) – are professional musicians, instrumentalists and also singers. They graduates of the National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania, with great achievements in classical music performing. Amadeus has been performing on stage, as a group, for 18 years. Their mission has always been bringing the youth close to classical music, inspiring them to start learning how to play an instrument. In all these years, Amadeus never stopped bringing people of all backgrounds closer to the joys and wonders of classical music.

Amadeus has played on four continents so far. Their music is greatly appreciated both in Europe, where France, Spain, Italy, and the U.K. are usual stops for the group, as well as in South America or Asia, where they have been repeatedly invited to perform with great public success.

Ineffable is a fusion jazz quartet formed in Miercurea Ciuc, Transylvania, in 2016. Their fame quickly grew in local circles, and by 2018 they had played a radio concert, a tour of Bucharest jazz venues and won an award at the prestigious Jazz In the Park festival in Cluj.

2019 saw the release of their debut album "Neon", while the following year has Ineffable performing repeatedly in Budapest. COVID-19 forced them to cancel their touring plans for 2021, but that didn't stop them from releasing the second studio album, "New Dimension", in May.

Their style is a blend of R&B, neo funk, neo soul, jazz funk, new gospel, and pop-jazz.

Rockabella is a Bucharest-based indie-rock band revolving around singer-songwriter Teodora Moroșanu. The band's eclectic sound brings together art rock, alternative and progressive-rock infleunces, while also surprising listeners with neo soul, industrial and electro sounds.

Their gigs are intense, complex and intimate, Teodora always unveiling the personal nuances of the stories behind her songs. Their concept album ”Clarobscur” came out in 2019 and it treads the fine line between the light and the darkness in the human psyche. A-C Leonte is one of the most creative Romanian singer-songwriters, representing not only the contemporary jazz scene of Bucharest, but also the electronic underground movement. She gained a lot of experience by studying jazz, borrowing some precious tools from this genre, such as the effervescence of improvisation, the playfulness and power of words and poetry, the harmonic complexity and essentially the freedom of expression, which combined with other modern influences that reflect the global culture nowadays, such as hip-hop, dnb, dub or trip-hop, gave birth to a deep original sound that she reveals through her work and continuously explores as a composer, band-leader and performer (vocals & violin).

A-C Leonte has released three solo albums, which mark the steps of her evolution as a singer and songwriter, and document the transformations along the way. Released in July 2014 under Fiver House Records, “Secret Lover” is an album that has an obvious jazz influence due to the fact that at the time, the singer was still attending the National University of Music to complete her studies for a Master degree in Vocals Jazz Techniques. This first author album stands as an important first approach for building the quintet the singer leads today, that has the same pianist, bassist and drummer: Albert Tajti, Michael Acker and Tavi Scurtu.

Marius Mihalache is the best known Romanian dulcimer player. Born in Bucharest, in a family of musicians, he first started playing the dulcimer at the age of 4, encouraged by his father. At the age of 10 he won his first music prize in Athens, Greece. Winner of numerous awards for interpretive virtuosity since childhood, at 17 he plays Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Schumann, Schubert and Mozart on the dulcimer, raising thunderous applause in Scala di Milano.

The most important moment of his life as an artist, however, is meeting the renowned american artist Chick Corea, who will later on mentor him and give him opening slots on some of his concerts. His debut album released in 1998, "Eclipse", contains 9 original adaptations from Romanian folklore, with influences of classical music, pop and jazz, and marked the beginning of a prolific career.

In November 2017 he launches the project "Săftiță" (meaning "a good start" in Romanian). It tells his life story highlighting his Gypsy affiliation and all that it brought to building his cultural and musical background.

Piqued Jacks are pure energy. Thanks to riveting concerts and an internationally appealing alt/funk-rock, this band from Italy’s region Tuscany have carved out a place for themselves in the indie panorama between Italy, UK, USA and Canada. In their teens, they broke and bent an audio jack; the double meaning was easy to see for the four young boys. “Piqued” means “interested”, but also stands for the excitement and spontaneity of their unique sound that comes straight from the gut.

The new album “Synchronizer” (INRI, March 2021), produced by Julian Emery (Nothing But Thieves), Brett Shaw (Florence + The Machine) and Dan Weller (Enter Shikari), confirms itself as the most complete, varied and incisive Piqued Jacks album to date. For the record’s release party the band did something never seen before, parachuting from a 11200ft altitude and playing the full tracklist live on the landing strip. The first singles, “Every Day Special”, “Golden Mine”, “Elephant”, “Mysterious Equations” and “Fire Brigade” with airplay on Kerrang! Radio, BBC Radio, MTV, Rai Radio and La Repubblica launched the band on the trajectory of major stages in 2021: CMW (Toronto), Musexpo (Los Angeles) and MMB (Bucharest).

Formed in 2006 in Buggiano (Italy), Piqued Jacks wanted to be the next Red Hot Chili Peppers. Today, their influences include Biffy Clyro, The Killers, Nothing But Thieves.

Dimitri’s Bats started in 2017 and their music, a blend of eclectic sounds touched by dark undertones, will make you want to dance from the first listening. A fresh sight in the Romanian indie/alternative scene, Dimitri's Bats are constantly blurring the lines between dancefloor beats and alternative riffs. Their sound is peppered with varied influences such as Anderson .Paak, Jacob Collier, alt-J or Tyler the Creator.

Until now, they released a debut EP in 2018, "Mess", with its lead single "Cold" being in Top 10 Romanian Songs of 2017 according to national station Radio Guerrilla. More music is currently on the way.
